Today was the day! All the planter beds in the organic garden are finished. But, some beds still need wire and compost, and walkways need wood chips. We are almost done with the structural “framework.” It has taken a year, but well worth it.
Two beds around some fruit trees were circled with clay tubes. I wanted to incorporate the red clay into this side of the garden for continuity.
A small pear tree was bordered with locust limbs and a recycled gate. It looks cool and funky! The remaining walkways were dug out and are now ready for cardboard and wood chips.
Yesterday I prepared 3 beds for planting by turning in the erosion control grass and giving some to the chickens. Today, I planted bush beans, pumpkins, and gourds.
Looking forward to more planting in spring, so grateful the garden is ready!
