Yesterday, we finished the four planter beds made from redwood bark slabs. Today we added the cement wire to keep out gophers. We also cemented in 4 10′ redwood 4x4s to make a stand for a new bee hive. Next weekend we’ll fill the planter beds following a permaculture system of laying plant debris and branches on the bottom and layering manure and compost.

For landscaping this area, we have to level the walkway and remove a lot of dirt, make a small retaining wall up to the entrance to the trail, built a fence and gate, build a raised planter bed to catch the art studio roof runoff, and add wood chips.
