Mulch Pathway

About a week ago, we got an unexpected and welcomed delivery of wood chips from one of the tree services we had used.  I guess they figured we wanted wood chips, and we needed more to finish the garden.  We are now set and ready to keep going.

Last week, Farmhand Will continued to dig out the main walkway to the chicken coop.  Now, there is sheet mulching, and we’ll do it section by section.  I’m happy to have finished laying the river rock walkway even though it still needs mortar to smooth it out. At least, the rocks are moved out of the garden, perfect timing.

The wood chips will be filled in next week, then we can start digging out the planter beds to add wire before building the locust border.

This is all an unexpected surprise to be able to finish the garden foundation and prepare for spring planting. Currently, there is erosion control seeds sprouting in the soil which the chickens get to eat.
